Madrid City Council wins Social Innovation Award at the European Social Services Awards

El Ayuntamiento gana el premio a la Innovación Social en los European Social Services Awards 1 abril

The European Network of Social Services awards the initiative for alternative accommodation for old people experiencing loneliness at COVID-19.

The delegate for Families, Equality and Social Welfare, Mr Pepe Aniorte, attended the award ceremony in Brussels, where he celebrated the achievement of "Madrid being internationally recognized for its Social Services".

The initiative was launched by the Directorate General for the Elderly in April 2020 to provide accompaniment to older people who had lost their careers or who needed social and psychological support.

Geolocation project, finalist in the Research category

The European Network of Social Services has also selected as a finalist the geolocation project presented by the Directorate-General for Innovation and Social Strategy, a study on the effect of the crisis on the city's population in order to measure the socio-economic effects of COVID-19.

The European Network of Social Services is a growing community of more than 150 local, regional, and national authorities, and organizations responsible for social services representing more than one million professionals across Europe.

The Area of Families, Equality and Social Welfare, on behalf of Madrid City Council, is a member and as such receives permanent information and participates in several working groups on European funds and quality and long-term care.
