Technologicaladvances
SAMUR-Civil Protection continues to incorporate new technologies into its operational equipment. Each technological element added to the service undergoes an evaluation carried out in collaboration with operational personnel.
Corpuls Monitor
Fully configurable and modular designed defibrillator monitor which can be divided into: Monitoring unit, with functional grip and shock protection; Patient unit, ensuring constant monitoring and Defibrillator/Pacemaker. The GSM module can transmit real-time waveforms and parameters during patient transport.
MEDUMAT Standard Ventilator
Portable device specifically designed for emergency service and patient transport. There are different options and modes for invasive and non-invasive (NIV) artificial ventilation. It also includes a specific CPR mode with the CCSV artificial respiration mode (chest compression-synchronised ventilation). It also assists in the administration of anaesthetics.

ACCUVAT Lite Aspirator
Airway release is one of the first steps taken to ensure sufficient oxygen supply. This suction pump also serves to evacuate air from vacuum mattresses and splints.
Volumat Agilia Volumetric infusion pump

Infusion systems facilitate parenteral administration of drugs and solutions and are used where accuracy and constant drug supply is essential. These are also used for their ability to administer medications and solutions at high pressures which cannot be obtained with other equipment or gravity dependent equipment.
This pump is specially designed to prevent free flow. It features an automatic flow stop, maximum safety Occlusivity (OCS) system, intelligent pressure management with guaranteed predetermined performance and is user-friendly.

PT/INR Mission
Portable automatic coagulation analyser for monitoring oral anticoagulant therapy using quantitative prothrombin (PT) tests. The test strips work with capillary blood samples or unclotted blood samples from patients receiving anticoagulant therapy.

Ultrasound linear probe
Used for poor vascular access, musculoskeletal ultrasound, paediatric ultrasound, and small parts.
THOMAS Endotracheal Tube Holder
These holders are designed to secure advanced airway devices, such as endotracheal tubes and other wider supraglottic airway devices, after insertion into the trachea or oesophagus to reduce the risk of accidental extubation.

COMBAT Torniquet Application
One-handed tourniquet with an internal sliding band for extremely effective circumferential pressure application to limbs compromised by penetrating trauma.
CELOX Rapid

Haemostatic bandage stops bleeding fast. Celox products contain a patented chitosan derivative in the form of microscopic flakes which are biocompatible and biodegradable. With a high level of compression over a large surface area, it facilitates rapid clot formation through absorption and dehydration. It does so independently of the body's clotting mechanism and without exothermic reaction or damage to surrounding tissues.
FernoTrac paediatric
These splints provide mechanical traction to relieve pain and reduce the possibility of further vascular and nerve damage in patients with possible bone fractures in the lower limbs. The length can be adjusted, and elastic support straps hold the injured leg within the splint frame, helping to provide in-line mechanical traction.
Acceso vascular intraóseo
Intraosseous vascular access
Intraosseous (IO) access is considered a fast and effective alternative in cases where intravenous access is poor or impossible to attain in less than 60 seconds in critical and/or life-threatening situations.
Since 2007, at SAMUR-Civil Protection has been using the EZ-IO Intraosseous Infusion System to administer drugs and fluids and even take blood samples for analysis in both adults and children.

EPOC blood analyser
Unlike the previous system, which required the use of two cartridges to obtain the basic parameters required for a critically ill patient, the new system provides all these parameters on a single blood test card. These cards do not require refrigeration, which greatly facilitates their use.
The EPOC analyser calibrates and verifies the blood test cards before adding the blood sample, enabling card failure detection before inserting the blood sample.

KidySafe paediatric immobilization device
Paediatric restraint system for ambulance stretchers. This device, which can be adapted to ambulance stretchers, is safe and extremely user-friendly, solving the problem of securing small children to stretchers.
Suitable for patients weighing between 9 and 36 kg. The 5-point restraint harnesses (shoulders, pelvic area and groin area) ensure that the child is perfectly secured.
Nasal atomization device
The nasal atomiser is extremely useful in situations where peripheral access is poor and rapid analgesia or sedation is required. It has a universal syringe connection for administering medication and a cone-shaped foam tip to fit the nostril. Paediatric patients were the first to benefit from the introduction of this atomiser.
Pelvic binder
After a long testing period with various models, the SAM Sling pelvic binder was selected as the most suitable for the Service. Its safety and ease in applying the correct pressure are key advantages, along with its robustness and convenient size for cleaning after use.

NanoMaxx portable ultrasound
It was necessary for the industry to embrace the evolution of ultrasound in the out-of-hospital setting and adapt the technology to this field of work. Its excellent performance together with its user friendliness have led to its satisfactory use in our service.

Manual Defibrillator Monitor
Choosing a manual defibrillator monitor for an emergency service is often an important milestone, as it is the most widely used instrument in medical emergencies and requires a significant financial investment.
