Tribute to the victims of the march 11th 2004 bombings

On March 11th, 2025, the Community of Madrid and Madrid City Council paid tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks of March 11th, 2004, in which 193 people died and over 2,000 were injured. This tragic event, known as 11M, is the worst terrorist attack in the history of Spain and one of the most devastating in Europe.

The commemorative event took place at the Real Casa de Correos (Royal Post Office), the seat of the regional government, where the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, laid a laurel wreath in memory of the victims. This solemn event was also attended by the presidents of the Association of Victims of Terrorism, Maite Araluce; the Victims of Terrorism Foundation, Juan Francisco Benito; and Monserrat Soler, the 11M Association of Victims of Terrorism.

SAMUR - Civil Protection actively participated in the tribute, honouring the memory of the victims and showing our support for their families and loved ones with the deepest sympathy and respect for all those affected by this terrible event.

SAMUR-Civil Protection as an emergency service directly involved in caring for the victims of this attack, has learned from this terrible experience to become more resilient and effective as an organisation and as professionals.
