| Summary |
GEMS is a project aimed at reducing the spread of extremism within the gaming environment. To achieve this goal, it brings together police experts, technical specialists, and academics committed to the security of EU citizens. The main purpose of the project is to minimize the recruitment of extremists and the dissemination of their ideas in the early stages of the gaming ecosystem, and to advance scientific understanding of radicalization and violent extremism through the Sociology of Gaming and Radicalization. The project consists of three pillars: Creating a new Training Plan and an application called 'Watchtower,' which utilizes Artificial Intelligence to detect and prevent the dissemination of extremist content and recruitment in the online gaming environment. Secondly, establishing a cross-sectoral collaboration network at the European level called 'European Networks Against Extremism Related to Gaming' (ENgaGE) to counter extremist presence in the gaming world. Finally, an effective public awareness campaign will be conducted, along with policy solutions backed by expertise that will significantly contribute to decision-making at higher levels. Additionally, training will be provided to citizens to strengthen the protection of the youngest members of society. |
