MAIA – Madrid Artificial Intelligence

 

At the end of 2024, with the aim of bringing together knowledge, experience and initiatives relating to Artificial Intelligence from across the City Council, in line with ENIA, the City Council’s Artificial Intelligence Roadmap and the European Union’s AI Regulation, a multidisciplinary working group was established: Madrid Artificial Intelligence – MAIA, organised according to the following structure and responsibilities:

And with very clear objectives:

  • To create an internal community where initiatives and opportunities for the development of AI projects undertaken by all municipal departments can be shared, and to generate internal synergies around these projects.
  • To establish a centre of excellence and best practice for the development of use cases, and to devise mechanisms for the analysis and implementation of AI projects, whilst defining basic ethical and technological principles for their development.
  • Promote an external community with businesses, universities and associations in which to share AI-related initiatives and actions with this ecosystem and encourage participation in industry meetups.
  • Promote and coordinate talent-related aspects of AI and the training of municipal staff.
